International Day of Democracy The Unravelling of Democracy: The Case Study of Turkey
Time & Location
About The Event
The UN International Day of Democracy provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world. Democracy is as much a process as a goal, and only with the full participation of and support by the international community, national governing bodies, civil society and individuals, can the ideal of democracy be made into a reality to be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere.
Professor John Keane, Professor of Politics along with Dr David Tittensor, Lecturer in Studies of Religion, will converse with former ABC Radio National host John Cleary, as they share their thoughts on the UN International Day of Democracy and the case study of Turkey, where democracy once existed and no longer does, under the despotic leadership of Erdogan.
